Ben Slater has studied Piano and been an active Live Performer in Various Musical Groups for over 30 Years. Playing over 3,000 live shows and seeing the enjoyment and musical connections it brings between other musicians and the audience, Ben brings a level of enthusiasm and practical musical concepts which has his students excited to learn. Originally self taught by ear, Ben Studied Jazz and Improv Theory under the Jimmy Amadie Program for 5 years. Whether your goal is to play Classical, Blues, Rock and Roll or Jazz, the approach to learning and honing your musicality should be the same – especially for beginners. As Piano is a percussion instrument, Ben Stresses the importance of Rhythm and Technic. He also likes his students to have a solid understanding of Musical scales and keys so they understand the big picture and how each piece of music relates. At the end of every lesson Ben encourages his students to add their own creative improv over the lessons or pieces they are perfecting and stresses the importance of ear training and playing within oneself. It is his goal to have every student be able to sit down at a piano, understand the relationships of the tones and chords and be able to create their own musical ideas for a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
